International Day of Older Persons observed

The office of District Social Welfare, ChurachandpurIn association with Social Human Action for Rural Employment (SHARE) Society observed the International Day of Older Persons 2021 alongside Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Themnu Aged Care Home, New Mata in Churachandpur district on Friday.
Churachandpur DC Pawan Yadav, Mata village chief Lallunkam and DSWO A Tamphasana attended the event as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, SHARE Society president K Esther Vaiphei highlighted various activities undertaken by the organisation and also the care, support and guidance rendered to the senior citizens.
DC Pawan Yadav gave an overview on the reason behind observance of old age day, and also shared on the vital needs of the senior citizens to get involved in politics by way of casting their votes.
Providing care and love to elderly people is the kindest act.
One should understand the hard ships faced by them and help them wherever and whenever possible, he said while calling upon the youth to extend helping hands to elderly people.
DSWO Tamphasana presented blankets to all participants in the programme and assured further support for them from the department.
International Day of Older Persons was also observed at Angou Old Age Home Charhajare, Kangpokpi which is run by People's Welfare Foundation (PEWA) on Friday.
As a part of the observance attended by Kangpokpi district social welfare officer Sadokpam Santosh Singh as chief guest, PEWA secretary Thoudam Jilangamba as president and senior citizen Krishna Prasad as guest of honour, PEWA presented gifts to senior citizens and residents of the home.
BISHNUPUR: As in other parts of the world, International Day of Older Persons 2021 was observed by Kumbi Khullakpam Leikai Women Association under the theme "Digital Equity for All Ages" at Senior Citizens' Home, Shanti Ashram, Kumbi Terakhong Lamjong village on Friday.
The programme was attended by Wangoo Terakhong Gram Panchayat pradhan P Baleshwor, New Life Foundation Thamnapokpi secretary Dr L Pishak, PRDA Bishnupur secretary L Suranjoy, Kumbi Municipal Council ex-chairperson W Priyoranjan and advocate P Premchand as presidium members.
