Imphal, October 30 2014 :
An emergency executive meeting of Editors' Guild, Manipur convened today regarding media management of State level Kut festival strongly condemned the alleged 'unwanted guests' treatment of State media persons during Kut festivals down the years.
Expressing strong concern over the selective invitation extended to a few media houses for this year's Kut programme coverage, the Editors' Guild resolved that invitation for the State level Kut coverage be extended to all media houses without any discrimination on ground of 'big' and 'small' media houses.
A statement issued by A Mobi Singh, president of EGM said the alleged discriminatory attitude of the State Level Kut Committee (SLKC) on the basis of 'big/small' media houses is seen as an attempt to create misunderstanding and ill will among media houses of the State.
There are just around 20 media houses and around 10 Imphal based correspondents active in Manipur.
Journalists representing just around 30 media houses are unlikely to cause any unwarranted inconvenience for Kut festival coverage, the statement said.
Urging the SLKC not to single out big and small media houses, the EGM demanded that press invitation for coverage of Kut programme be extended to all media houses without any line of division.
The EGM would not cover this year's State level Kut festival if the selective trend of extending invitation continues, it cautioned.
