Rally protests hunters' killing

Imphal, December 29 2012:
Denouncing gunning down of two hunters last evening, Kongkan villagers under Kamjong sub-division of Ukhrul district, today staged a protest rally in the sub-divisional headquarters.
According to sources, the protestors raising slogans against the duo's killing demanded exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.
They also demanded that jungles covered by Kamjong sub-division be reserved as poaching area for the surrounding villages.
The spot where the two hunters were killed is located about 10 kms south-east of Chassad police station.
The victims are K Kumar (48) s/o (L) Homshai and K Ramsong (40) s/o K Ramyo.
Meanwhile, two other companions of the slain hunters, whose whereabouts were unknown till late evening after the incident, have reportedly returned to their respective homes.
While one came back late last night the second arrived home early this morning, said a village source.
On the otherhand, a team of doctors from here left for Kamjong to conduct post mortem examination even as a case has been registered at Chassad police station on the incident.
