Low vaccine coverage in hill dists worries Governor

Governor La Ganesan has urged all religious leaders in the State to cooperate with the Covid vaccination programme of the Government so as to defeat the pandemic.
Addressing an interaction programme of different religious leaders at Raj Bhavan today, the Governor continued that vaccination and strict adherence to Covid appropriate behaviors are the only means available to fight the pandemic.
Expressing concern over the low vaccination rate in the hill districts, La Ganesan said that all stakeholders including religious and local leaders have to reach out to the people with the benefits of Covid vaccination.
The Governor also appealed to the people to come out and get themselves vaccinated at the facilities provided by the Government.

Mission Director of National Health Mission, Dr N Shyamjai said that the Government had identified about 63,000 people with co-morbidity from among the fully vaccinated lots.
Saying that they too should take the precautionary dose so as to avoid Covid infections, Dr Shyamjai maintained that the Government has already started administering a precautionary dose in line with the initiative taken up by the Centre.
The Govt has also sent mobile vaccination teams in hill districts so as to inoculate a large chunk of people there, he added.
President of Jamiat-ul-Ulama, Manipur, Moulana Sayeed Ahmad, general secretary of Manipur Baptist Convention, Losii Mao also attended the programme.
