Security tightened ahead of PM Modi's visit

Tightening security ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's November 30 visit to the State, police today conducted search operations at different localities of three valley districts.
Under the supervision of Imphal East Additional SP (Operations) Singhajit, a team of Imphal East district police led by Imphal East commando OC P Achouba conducted a search operation at Mahabali Kabui Khul near Manipur Sangai Festival venue under Porompat police station from 5 am to 7 am.
Narendra Modi will attend the closing function of the 10-day festival on November 30.During the search operation, all the rented houses were checked and tenants verified.
All the males, who are in the age group of 18 to 50 years were called out from their respective houses and their identities were verified.

Fifteen persons including seven non-locals who could not produce proper identity proof were detained by the police team and handed over to the Porompat police station for further verification.
Similarly, a team of Imphal West district police led by Imphal West commando OC Sanjoy conducted a cordon and search operation at Changangei Mayai Leikai under Lamphel police station today morning.
After verification, 16 persons including two persons who are currently on bail were detained and handed over to Lamphel police station for further verification.
On the other hand, Bishnupur district police also conducted a cordon and search operation at Malom Tulihal and Tuliyaima under Nambol Police station from 6 am to 8 am.
The search operation was conducted under the supervision of Bishnupur Additional SP (Operations) Manjit and Bishnupur commando DSP John and Bishnupur commando OC Sadanand.
After verification, 12 persons who could not produce proper identity proof were detained and handed over to the Nambol police station for further investigation.
