Minister Shyamkumar assures to set up Honey processing unit to be set up in Ningthi Village

Kamjong, May 25 2018:
Forest and Environment and Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar had announced that a honey processing unit will be set up soon in Ningthi village under Phungyar Assembly Constituency at Kamjong district.
The Minister was given a rousing welcome on his maiden visit at Ningthi village yesterday, located around 135 kms from Imphal.
Minister Shyamkumar further announced that the second Organic Outlet will be soon opened in Imphal, after the success of the first one at the Sanjenthong.

He reminded the people on the historical importance of the village and said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister N.Biren Singh, is working towards inclusive development in the State for growth and progress in the region.
He also said the he will give forward their grievances including bad road condition and lack of proper schools to the Chief Minister.
He assured to the people that the organic vegetables grown by the farmers of the Ningthi village will be acquired by his department and a vehicle for transporting vegetables to Imphal will be provided within this week to the villagers.
The Minister further said farmers will be encouraged to plant cash crops in between Agar tree as it takes 7-8 years for the tree to mature, adding that the method will surely benefit the farmers.
Stating that the soil condition of the village is suitable for litchi, he said the farmers will be provided free saplings.
The farmers will be also encouraged to plant other fruit bearing trees like mango, banana and cash crops like bay leaf plant, cardamom, he added.
Th.Shyamkumar was impressed by the villagers for planting fruit bearing trees and different flowers.
He opined that it helps in attracting the bees which further helps the villagers in rearing the bees.
He announced that he will help in providing required number of bee-boxes to the villagers.
Later at the reception ceremony held at church organised by North East Ningol Bee-Keeping and Forest Conservation Trust Collaboration with Ningthi Village Authority under KVIC of India, Th.Shyamkumar distributed bee-boxes to the villagers.
He also said his department will also soon initiate plans for water conservation to solve the issue of water scarcity.
As part of the function in the morning, Minister Th.Shyamkumar and K.Angami, PCCF & HoFF planted Litchi saplings.
Officials of Horticulture and Soil Conservation and Forest and Environment, village headman and villagers attended the function.
