Drugs worth Rs 50 lacs seized

Personnel of 116 Bn BSF of SHQ BSF CI (OPS) have seized drugs worth Rs 50 lakhs along Heirok �Thamlai Road at around 12 noon yesterday.
This is one of the bigger drugs haul in Manipur.
According to a BSF press release, on getting specific information, a BSF team stopped a suspicious Maruti Gypsy (MN01 K 8433) for checking along the road.
On checking the vehicle, 13 plastic bags containing white coloured tablets suspected to be high profile narcotic drugs/psychotropic substance weighing 460 kgs worth around Rs 50 lakhs were found.
The vehicle was driven by one Winson Shinglai Tangkhul (43) s/o late Shangreiyo Shinglai Tangkhul of Yeason village, Ukhrul, presently residing at Pallel since past 10 years.
On questioning, the driver revealed that he was paid Rs 10,000 to transport the drugs from Pallel to Parengtong.
He was to hand over the drugs to one lady namely Tinneikim Haokip of Khudengthabi, now residing at Pallel.

The arrested driver further revealed that these drugs were to be transported to Myanmar on head load through different couriers.
A cash of Rs10,650 and one mobile phone with SIM were also seized from his possession.
Shinglai along with the seized items have been handed over to the Officer-in-charge, Narcotics and Affairs of the Border PSImphal, Manipur on proper seizure memo after lodging an FIR in the instant case, added the press release issued by Manoj Kumar Rai, Deputy Commandant (G) SHQ BSF CI (Ops) BSF, Koirengei, Imphal.
In another incident, troops of 42 Assam Rifles nabbed a person with 87170 tablets of Tie Cold while checking a bus (MN-01-1286) at Bongyang yesterday.
The person has been identified as Ajiz Singh (19) s/o Iboyai of Sekmaijin, Mayang Imphal.
He along with the seized tablets has been handed over to Customs office, Pallel, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
