Cops recover stolen goods from 2 junkies

Tightening its grip over crimes involving drug abusers, a team of Imphal West district police led by its SDPO Ningthoujam Madhunimai has arrested two abusers and recovered a large number of stolen goods from their possession.
Talking to mediapersons in this regard today evening, SDPO Madhunimai informed that the two drug abusers were arrested from near Imphal War Cemetery today afternoon following a special tip off on the involvement of drug abusers in incidents of theft and other related crimes that are taking place in Imphal city and its surrounding areas.
Identifying the two arrested drug abusers as Takhenchangbam Ratan Sharma (24) s/o Brojen of Bamon Leikai Thangjam Leirak and Sagolsem Nanao Singh (28) s/o Ibotomba of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai, the police officer disclosed that both are abusers of Heroin (no.4) and Ratan had been in jail earlier.

From the possession of the arrested duo, one Honda Activa scooter, one PC set with UPS and printer, one LPG cylinder, one blanket and one room heater, which have been stolen from the quarters belonging to Dr Ranjana Srivastava located just opposite to ICAR complex, Lamphelpat as well as one Sony Cybershot (Digital still camera), one HP Printer, one Hi-Tech inverter, one Tata Photon Internet connectivity data card cum driver, one multi card reader, one Wi-fi receiver and one suitcase with trolley, which have been stolen from the quarters of Dr Paokai Kipgen, located not far from that of Dr Ranjana Srivastava have been recovered, the SDPO disclosed.
In addition to these items, one electric water pump set, which they claimed to have been stolen from Malom area have also been recovered.
However, the owner of the water pump set has not yet been established, the SDPO said, adding that further investigation is on.
Public should know that such habitual drug offenders are involved in such cases of theft and crimes and police should be informed in case of any suspicion, SDPO Madhumani appealed.
