Imphal, March 22 2012:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has vehemently denied any misuse of fund sanctioned under RKVY scheme for the piggery farm located at Tarungpokpi near Moirang.
The Chief Minister was responding to a call attention motion put up by Dr I Ibohalbi and Kh Joykishan about possible misappropriation of fund sanctioned for the piggery farm.
Ibobi maintained that there was no question of misuse or swindling of the fund sanctioned for the piggery farm.
Of the Rs 10 crores sanctioned for the central sponsored scheme, Rs 50 lakhs was meant for construction of a work shed which can house 50 pigs while the remaining Rs 50 lakhs was meant for purchasing piglets for further distribution to beneficiaries, Ibobi informed the House.
Raising the call attention motion, Dr I Ibohalbi said that the number of beneficiaries was reduced to just 299 though the exact number of beneficiaries should be 412 .
Saying that he was raising the motion in public interest, not because he had any personal grudge against any officer or individual, Ibohalbi pointed out that the authorities concerned did not make any clarification when a report about misuse of fund sanctioned for the farm was published in a local daily.
He sought attention of the House to check misappropriation of public fund.
Kh Joykishan also spoke in support of the motion and urged steps against fund misappropriation.
