The CM was gracing a felicitation function held to honor Elangbam Dwijamani who won Hiyanglam by-election from the Congress ticket at Congress Bhavan, BT Road here today.

Unexpectedly, the party also got defeated in Haryana where the party had ruled for two terms.
As such, it is high time for the party workers to introspect what went wrong, the CM added.
Maintaining that the Congress party has been ruling the State since the last three terms by winning confidence of the people, Ibobi asserted that the party must strive hard to meet wishes of the people if the party wants to govern the State in the next term again.
Even though there is BJP led NDA Government at the centre, they will not hesitant to provide all needs of the State.
When Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, the then Congress led UPA Government had sanctioned required funds to the State for its development, Ibobi pointed out.
Saying that there left only two years and six months for completion of the party's third term rule in the State, the CM called upon the party workers to work tirelessly for welfare of the people during the remaining period of the term.
''Let BJP and other parties keep on charging the Congress on whatever matter, the party should stick to its principle which is to bring growth and development in the State,'' Ibobi said.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who was also present at the function said that the winning of the party in the just concluded Hiyanglam by-election is a clear indication that faith of people only lies with the Congress party which has been taking various developmental works in both the hills and valley at equal level.
The party has been working for welfare of the people honestly and with the announcement of the by-election results, it has now proved that party is the only one whom the people can trust as far as bringing in growth and development in the State is concerned, the Dy CM asserted.
E Dwijamani was accorded warm welcome by presenting garland during the function which was also attended by Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, Congress MLAs and party workers.
