Woman found dead, house set ablaze

Imphal, September 21 2014:
After a missing vegetable vendor was found dead, infuriated people today blocked Mayai Lambi road at Hiyangthang and set ablaze the house of a suspected murderer.
According to information culled from the spot, Serakhatun (55) w/o late Abdul Jalim of Hiyangthang Pallak was found dead on the bank of Nambul river at Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai, Imphal West district under Wangoi police station at around 8.45 am today.
The woman used to vend vegetables at Hiyangthang Keithel.
She went missing since September 19.She was last seen with one Phusam Md Abdul Kadir alias Amuthi (28) s/o Ph Ibosana of Hiyangthang Pallak Chandranadi Mapal leaving the market for home at around 7.30 pm of the same day.

The corpse was found at the foot of an incomplete, abandoned bridge among shrubs and bushes.
Her hands as well as the body were found tied with a plastic rope.
The body had started decomposing and it is not yet clear if there were any injury marks.
Nonetheless, blood stains were seen on the mouth and ears.
Meanwhile, on learning about the death of Serakhatun, an enraged group of people blocked Mayai Lambi and set afire the house of Abdul Kadir alias Amuthi.
Abdul Kadir and his family members had already abandoned the house when the crowd reached there.
Moreover, all the household articles were found shifted to a neighbouring house.
Abdul Kadir was earlier imprisoned for his association with a UG group.
Moreover, he was said to be a drug abuser.
In connection with the murder, a case has been registered at Wangoi police station.
The corpse has been retrieved and deposited at RIMS mortuary for post mortem examination.
Serakhatun is survived by four sons and six daughters.
