Training programme

A three-day training programme on post harvest technology was opened today at the Foundation for Environment and Economic Development Services (FEEDS), Hengbung under the aegis of Amity International Centre for Post Harvest Technology and Cold Chain Management, Noida, UP and KVK Sylvan, Senapati.
Amity International Centre for Post Harvest Technology and Cold Chain Management, Noida has been training people on post harvest technology and cold chain management.
A two year course on MSc Horticulture (Post Harvest Technology) has been opened at the centre.

Altogether 60 farmers of Senapati district are taking part in the training programme.
Speaking at the opening function CAU Vice-Chancellor Prof M Premjit lamented that vegetables and fruits produced in the State could not go beyond local markets.
A substantial quantity of fruits and vegetables is wasted as they get perished before being sold on account of absence of preservation facilities like cold storage.
Quality agricultural produces produced in Manipur need to be processed scientifically.
If these processed products can be marketed outside the State, socio-economic condition of local farmers can be definitely alleviated, Prof Premjit asserted.
Former Registrar of MU, Dr RK Ranjan and Amity International University Professor Emeritus Dr BS Hansra were also present at the opening function.
