Ukhrul, January 18, 2012:
All Naga Students' Association Manipur and Naga women's Union have come out strongly against the State Government alleging that Government of Manipur is communal and that it should not be supported by the people in the ensuing Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections slated for January 28, said a statement issued by the publicity wing of the NPF, Ukhrul AC.
In a 12 point charter of disagreement with the State Government issued by the two Naga organisations, they alleged that Manipur Government has denied the identity and existence of the Nagas and the Constitutional safeguards provided for the Tribals of Manipur.
The charter also accused the Government.
The charter also accused Manipur Government of imposing various acts, rules, orders and suppressive measures in all walks of life and blatantly carrying out mass scale injustice, deprivation and oppression of the tribals.
The charter asserted that they (Manipur Government) have passed the Manipur Hill Areas (Aquisition of Chiefs Rights) Act, 1967; Forest Rights Act, 2006 without excluding the Tribal areas in the State and imposed the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council (3rd Amendment) Act, 2008. Manipur Government also denied quality education, health services, job reservation, service promotion and infrastructural developoment to the Tribals, it maintained.
It accused the State Government of objecting to the Indo-Naga ceasefire and the Nagas' demand for alternative arrangement outside the Government of Manipur.
The 12 points charter also condemned Manipur Government's resistance to the visit of NSCN-IM General Secretary Th Muivah to his birth place and the entry of Naga Students' Federation Team to Manipur in the month of May last.
Expressing resentment over alleged declaration of Naga leaders as criminals and banning of Naga frontal organisations leading the people's movement, it rued that the Manipur Government is also against ensuring equal representation and increasing of five Tribals seats in the State Assembly.
Meanwhile, the NPF candidate of 44/ST/AC Ukhrul, Samuel Risom along with his workers have visited the villages of Hungpung Dunrei, Meizailung Ukhrul, T Shimin Tashar and T Chanhong today.
