Vaccination of kids in 12-14 age group starts

Vaccination of children in the 12-14 age group against COVID -19 began today in Manipur as in other parts of the country.
The vaccination drive is being jointly organised by National Health Mission and Family Welfare Services, Government of Manipur.
As per the recent guidelines of the Government, children belonging to the particular age group will be jabbed with Corbevax, manufactured by Biological E Limited.
Around 7.11 crore children across India are expected to be vaccinated in this age group.
Two doses of Corbevax vaccine would be administered at an interval of 28 days.
According to news agency PTI, Biological E Ltd has supplied 5 crore doses of Corbevax to the Centre and the vaccine has been distributed to States.

Speaking to media persons after launching the vaccination programme at RD Wing, Lamphelpat today, Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare V Vumlunmang stated that expanding priority age group of the Covid vaccination programme is a welcome step as the ultimate goal of the Government is to protect every Indian against COVID-19 .
Urging all the eligible population to get themselves vaccinated against Covid which is taking a toll on everyone, he reiterated that vaccination is the only way people can protect themselves against the contagion.
Imphal West DC Kirankumar, State Immunization Officer Dr T Manihar, CMO Imphal West Salam Priyokumar , Deputy Director of Family Welfare Services Gaipu and Deputy Director of Health Services RK Roji also attended the programme.
Speaking to media persons after taking the Covid vaccine shot, a Class IX student Victoria Elangbam (14) and Harish (13) said that they feel elated thinking that they are somewhat protected from COVID-19 .
The vaccination programme for the children in the 12-14 age group was held in all the 16 districts of Manipur.
Altogether 36 students of Nawa Sindam Sang were vaccinated on the first day of the campaign in Thoubal district.
The district has identified at least three permanent vaccination centres viz District Hospital, CHC Yairipok and PHC Lilong to continue the inoculation drive.
