All set for HSLC Exam from Mar 16

Imphal, March 13 2023: All preparations have been completed for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2023 which commences from March 16 .

Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) Chairman Akham Joykumar said that 38,127 students including 8130 students of Government schools, 1520 students of aided schools and 28,286 students of private schools would appear in the HSLC Exam 2023 .

The total numbers of male and female regular candidates are 18,286 and 18,628 respectively whereas the total numbers of external male and female candidates are 596 and 617 respectively, Joykumar said.

The total number of candidates appearing in HSLC Exam 2023 is 1639 less as compared to last year and this can be attributed to the board's permission to give compartmental examination even when a candidate had failed in two subjects.

But this year, no candidates would be allowed to give compartmental exam if they fail in two or more subjects, the BOSEM Chairman said.

Informing that the board has constituted 70 inspection teams of four members each to check use of unfair means by students, Joykumar said that the flying squads would be known as inspection teams from this year.

In addition, 44/45 teams of students/volunteers/stakeholders who have been given recognition certificates by the board would monitor exam centres, he said.

Unlike in the previous years, separate answer scripts would be given for Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Likewise, separate answer scripts would be given for History, Geography and Civics & Economics.

If any candidate gives answers of Physics questions in Chemistry answer script or vice versa, the particular answer script would be invalidated and it would not be evaluated, the BOSEM Chairman said.

He then appealed to one and all not to call bandh, general strike or blockade during the HSLC Exam 2023 .

He also appealed to all not to circulate hoax question papers in social media.

Joykumar said that the results of HSLC Exam 2023 shall be declared by the second week of May.

BOSEM Secretary Dr Sapam Mangijao and BOSEM Controller of Examinations Laishram Mangi Singh were also present at the press meet.
