Imphal, November 12 2012:
Not-withstanding the critical situation unfolding in the State, some Members of the Congress Legislature Party have raised a banner of revolt against Chief Minister O Ibobi and have started mobilising CLP Members on their side.
Six CLP leaders have assumed main responsibility of the revolt aimed at removing O Ibobi from the post of Chief Minister.
The six rebels have been holding separate meetings with other CLP Members in their efforts to win them over to their side.
The dissidents include two Cabinet Ministers.
Of the other four rebels Congress MLAs, three are former Ministers.
The six dissident MLAs are being supported and advised by a leader in Delhi who is a key member of the Congress Working Committee.
The main arguments put up in support of the anti-Ibobi campaign is his reluctance to toe the Centre's instruction regarding the law and order situation in Manipur and in connection with the political dialogue between the NSCN-IM and Government of India.

Another argument is, Ibobi overlooked seniority among CLP Members during Ministry expansion.
Meanwhile, some other CLP Members opined that the campaign against the leadership of Ibobi seemed to be driven by hunger for power.
Such attempts to create a chaotic situation in the State at such a critical junction for the sake of attaining power cannot be justified.
Except for these Members, majority of the CLP Members have no grudge against Chief Minister O Ibobi, they maintained.
Incidentally, Deputy Chief Minister is currently in charge of Chief Minister as O Ibobi is away on a foreign tour.
