Sharmila's boost to Central Library

Giving a boost to the demand to repeal AFSPA from the State, Irom Chanu Sharmila has handed eighty books to the State Central Library today at J N Hospital.
She said, the books were gifted to her by the citizens and books like Dead Soul, War and War are among the books donated.
As a girl she used to visit Central Library every single day to read books but it surprised the others as we live in a society where reading culture is not visible, she added.
She also said, today's society is obsessed with money and development while human values have vanished.
She stated that she has been on a hunger strike demanding that the Indian Government to repeal the AFSPA, the Act still remains.
Citizen from other States, academicians, scholars and students are supporting the demand to abolish AFSPA and Nandini Sunder, Professor, Delhi University is suporting the education of students who were affected by AFSPA by giving Rs 50, 000 from her side.
�The State Government does not consider seriously the demands of the Civil Society Organisations� she said.
