Imphal, June 11 2012:
Continuing with the State Government's efforts to ameliorate the existing power crisis, former Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh is most likely to be appointed as Power Advisor to the Chief Minister.
Taking serious note of the power crisis which has become chronic, Chief Minister O Ibobi has already initiated certain measures by keeping the power portfolio to himself with a conviction to address the issue to some extent.
The Cabinet may hold a meeting tomorrow and discuss the power situation as well as appointment of the Power Advisor.
Notably, Jarnail also held the post of DoNER Secretary for some period.
Since assuming charge of Electricity Department, O Ibobi has decided to hire SBI CAPS as consultant for the Government's plan to convert Electricity Department into a corporation.
Plans are also afoot to divide the works of billing and internal transmission between Power Grid and the Power Department.
