Electors who have grievances over election process or against the conduct of officials in-charge would be able to lodge their complaint with the help of a mobile phone/landline free of cost through the call centre to be opened at the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
Acting on the instruction of Election Commission of India, the call centre would be made operational starting from tomorrow ahead of the State Assembly election which is scheduled to be held sometime in early part of next year.
According to an official source, necessary infrastructure for setting up the call centre have been put in place including installation of computer sets.
The service of 13 Data Entry Operations would be utilised in running the call centre and attending to the complaints of the electors which would have direct access not just to the Chief Electoral Officer but also the Election Commission.
Initially, the call centre would be operational only during office hours.
However, as the countdown to the election begins, it would be in operation round the clock, the official explained.
After the call centre is made fully operational at the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Public Grievances Redressal Cells would be set up in all the nine districts, ADC Kangpokpi and Jiribam sub-division, the official disclosed.
