Police remand for four frauds

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West has remanded three non locals and one local man to nine days police custody for allegedly duping innocent people out of their money on the pretext of investing them in business firms/companies.
The three accused non-locals identified as Akash Kumar (25) s/o Prahlad Prasad of Dighwara Saran Village Bihar, Chandan Kumar Mishra (44) s/o Sharmanand Mishra of Krishnapuri Dimna Road, Jharkhand and Naveen Kumar (27) s/o Gyanu Prasad Sharma of Sector 25, Punjab University, Chandigarh were produced before the Court after the completion of police custody period.
Meanwhile, the local man identified as Ningombam Kirti alias Munni (40), s/o Gopal of Nagamapal Soram Leirak was arrested by the police yesterday and produced before the Court.
According to the IO of the case, upon interrogation, the accused persons admitted the charges levelled against them and revealed that they committed the crime in collusion with other persons staying in different parts of the country like Delhi, Chandigarh and Ranchi etc.
It was also revealed that they carried out this racket in different cities of India by cheating innocent people who wanted to invest their hard earned money.
The IO further expounded on the need for a thorough investigation to dig out information about the identities of their associates and as such requested for further nine days police custody of the accused persons.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the accused persons to police custody till 12 July .
