FA anniversary observed at Senapati; 12 hrs shut down imposed strictly
CSOs question why FA has not moved since 2015

Amidst the total curfew imposed by the State Government, the 12 hour shutdown called to mark the 6th anniversary of the signing of the Framework Agreement sent a symbolic yet vocal message that nothing has moved since the inking of the pact.
The Framework Agreement was signed six years ago and the anniversary was observed at Maram Union Secretariat Hall, Senapati.
A function held to mark the day was organised by Naga People�s Organization (NPO), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and the Senapati District Women�s Association (SDWA) .
In his keynote address, Jonah Mao K, general secretary of the NPO stated that the Framework Agreement of 2015 had brought a ray of hope to the Nagas.
However, the pact has not moved since then with no progress so far, he stated.
The NPO secretary sought to remember the leaders in prayers so as to bring an honourable solution in future.
Joyson Mazamo, convenor, NPMHR (South) in his speech said the signing of the Framework Agreement was considered to have opened up lots of opportunities but implementing it has been hindered due to insincerity on the part of the Govt of India.
Thiirtung Wanglar, president, All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) stated that in the last few years, the Govt of India and the NSCN (IM) have not reached any agreement to implement the FA through negotiations.
Asha Wungnam, president, Naga Women's Union (NWU) stated that more than 60 rounds of talks have been held at the highest level and people have been waiting all these years hoping that the Framework Agreement would bring a tangible solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue, but so far no tangible progress has been witnessed.
Kho John, president, United Naga Council (UNC) stated that the signing of the FA is historic when it was signed at the residence of the Prime Minister of India.
Two important points during the signing of the FA just cannot go unattended by the Govt of India and those include "To co-exist as two entities and shared sovereign power." The UNC leader also lamented the back tracking of RN Ravi, the Interlocutor in the past which prompted the NSCN (IM) to reject the presence of RN Ravi as the Interlocutor.
The promises of the Prime Minister of India to solve the Indo-Naga political issue within 18 months is just a castle in the air, said Kho John and urged everyone to contribute all their mite till the final settlement is reached.
The program was attended by representatives of the district CSOs, National workers and other dignitaries where it was held under strict observation of Covid SOPs and guidelines.
CHANDEL: The Chandel Naga People's Organisation also observed the day held at its office at Chandel HQs.
Kanral speaker UNC, Maku Tepamran NWUC president, Sk Joseph NSUC presiden and Ts.
Ruwngwar NCAC president attended the function as speakers.
The president of CNPO called for unity among the people and added that Nagas are not asking any favor but only its rightful place in the comity of Nations.
The CNPO and its federating units (Tribe Hohos), subordinate bodies including NWUC, NSUC, NCAC also imposed a successful "Total shutdown" in the district for 12 hours.
