Athuan Abonmai case : More stage protest

Denouncing the cold blooded murder of Athuan Abonmai on September 22 last by 'armed' miscreants, protest demonstrations were staged in different parts of the State, today.
Several women staged sit-in protests at Chingemeirong Kabui Khul, Gaipuinam, Namdunlong , Ragailong Moirangkhom, Majorkhul under the aegis of JAC on Brutal Murder of Athuan Abonmai.
At the demonstrations, placards that read "We Want Justice", "Where is law of the land", "No justice no peace", "Arrest the culprit immediately", "Justice delayed is justice denied" and others were displayed by the protesters.
One of the protesters at Ragailong stated that the killing of Athuan Abonmai in a "bestial and barbaric manner is not justifiable in any manner.

Stating that Athuan Abonmai was a straightforward leader who advocated a united Manipur, the woman protester urged the Government to book the 'killer' at the earliest.
Another protester at Gaipuinam, Julia Golmei said that the way in which Abonmai was killed is very disappointing and added that such cruelties should not be meted out even against animals.
Stating that the people of Gaipuinam also condemned the Government in the strongest terms, Julia urged the Government to bring out the perpetrators and punish them befittingly.
The Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) and Lamyanba Irabot Ningshing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC) held a candlelight vigil at Waheng Leikai Lairembi as a mark of respect to late Athuan Abonmai who was killed on September 22 last.
On the sidelines, convenor of PPCM Maibam Bisheshor said that the event was organised to pay tribute to Athuan Abonmai who upheld the idea of territorial integrity of the State and works towards invoking the sense of brotherhood among all communities on the 10th day of his demise.
The bodies and local Meira Paibi members through the candlelight vigil also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace in heavenly abode, he continued.
Abonmai was killed for his idea of a unified Manipur and voice for unity and integrity cannot be suppressed by brute forces, he said.
