Imphal, June 01 2011:
Terming Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh's scathing remark against underground organisations operating in the State as yet another confirmation of native politicians' desire to remain in power by pleasing the Central leaders, the proscribed UNLF has called upon the people to stay alert in order to thwart attempts of such politicians to undermine the revolutionary movement.
reacting to the CM's comments against UG groups at a workshop organised by the Congress party at an Ukhrul district location yesterday, UNLF's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba said the SPF Government's proclamation of successful implementation of various flagship programmes is a deliberate tactic to divert the real issues at hand.
Such tall claims are not only intended on misleading the public but a noble means to please Central leaders and prolong India's 'domination of Manipur', the outfit's functionary contended and alleged that the real beneficiaries of the so-called flagship programmes are the Ministers, MLAs, top bureaucrat officials, contractors with the CM himself at the top of the list.
Maintaining that such corrupt elements comprise hardly five percent of manipur's total population but nevertheless have command over the entire population due to patronage of the Centre, Yoiheiba expressed concern that campaign to regain sovereignty is enduring internal resistance due to presence of a handful of individuals with sinister agenda.
Elaborating on the contention, Yoiheiba said the administrative system had degenerated to such an extent that even the most brilliant and qualified individuals are at the mercy of those in power for corruption has become an unavoidable component of governance.
The outfit further asserted that indulgence in drugs and substance abuse amongst the upcoming generation and incidents of breast feeding mothers involving in bomb attacks are outcome of accumulated grievances for existence under successive corrupt regimes.
Opining that an individual like O Ibobi Singh would not like to digest such distressful situation being endured by the State masses, Yoiheiba conveyed strong resentment that rather than provide solace to the suffering public the Government is enrolling dubious elements in the police force with the agenda of creating more chaos in the society.
Accusing the Government of diluting the ongoing campaign of insurgent groups through setting up armed gangs and some politicians utilising such elements during elections, he opined that apart from Ministers and MLAs wielding extra-judicial powers even their wards have begun to flaunt muscle and money power.
With particular reference to the CM's proposition that UG groups contest elections to prove credibility, the senior publicity officer said the utterance is a befitting testimony of India's corrupt political system where muscle and money power rule the roost.
Observing that Indian para-military forces safeguarding the Chief Minister is a reflection of O Ibobi not reposing faith on police commandos even though many commando personnel were enrolled during his stint, Yoiheiba claimed that such a mistrust is a fallout of hefty corruption during the recruitment process.
Asking Ibobi to prove his own sincerity and commitment towards welfare of the people of Manipur, the UNLF proposed that the CM test his credibility by convincing Government of India hold plebiscite to enable the people determine their own future.
Rather than make tall claims it would be in the right earnest to introspect why Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had the audacity to show up at Senapati and comment with contempt detrimental to the emotional and territorial integrity of Manipur inspite of the fact that the Manipur Chief Minister had asserted not to entertain his
Nagaland counterpart.
