Accusing volunteers of the Bus Owners' Association, Ukhrul of vandalising the Imphal-Ukhrul taxi counters at Khuman Lampak and damaging three Wingers besides assaulting two taxi drivers, the Ukhrul Taxi Association has strongly decried the acts.
Addressing media persons today at Ukhrul, the president of Ukhrul Taxi Association said that their booking counter at Khuman Lampak, Imphal was vandalised by the volunteers of the Bus Owners' Assn on Sept 28 .
Three Wingers plying along Imphal-Ukhrul route (No MN-01X/8922, MNO4A/7392, AS-11AC/5788) were also damaged while two taxi drivers were physical assaulted, he said.
Reportedly one person has been arrested by Police involved in the activities.
The Taxi Assn has lodged a complain with the SP, Ukhrul to this matter.
On Sept 28 the Imphal East and Imphal West police have escorted the taxis.
Now VDF personnel were deployed for ROP on the route for undisturbed service.
The Ukhrul-Imphal passenger bus service has been suspended indefinitely since few days back following misunderstanding among the bus owners and TNL.
Meanwhile, the Ukhrul Taxi Association has urged the TNL and Truck and Bus Owners' Association to solve the impasse and to resume normal service at the earliest.
At the same time the Taxi Association has also extended gratitude to the police department for their intervention in time.
