CCpur, August 29 2016:
The Kuki Inpi, Churachandpur (KIC) has today stated that it has taken a stand along with all its subordinate organisations to sever ties with the JAC-AATB with immediate effect.
It may be recalled that the year-long agitation led by the JAC-AATB has been carefully intended to promote brotherhood amongst the kindred tribes.
However the course of action taken up by the JAC at this juncture is in no way directed towards promoting common tribal interest any more, claimed a statement issued by KIC.
Therefore "any related dharnas, strikes and creation of public nuisance would be opposed until such time where all stake holders agree to work in unison for common public benefits," added KIC.
Following the severance of ties by the KIC and Hmar Students' Association, Ghqs on August 27, the Kuki Students' Organisation, CCpur and Hmar Students' Association, CCpur have also withdrawn from the Churachandpur JAC, with immediate effect.
In a joint statement, the two student bodies said that henceforth they will have nothing more to do with JACAATB but will continue to jointly work against any Bill/Legislation/Act which may violate the ancestral rights of the tribals, their land, culture and distinct way of life.
The two student bodies also appealed to all to respect the decision of the KIC and HSA Ghqs to snap ties with the JACAATB and urged all to refrain from any activity that could lead to further misunderstanding between the cognate tribes of Churachandpur.
"It will be most prudent on the part of all concerned to exercise restraint and show mutual respect," said the joint statement.
The two student bodies also observed that the students of the district should be allowed to live, learn and grow in a free environment without hindrances from any quarters and added that the educational institutions should be declared 'an oasis of learning' .
