Affected Land Owners' Association against Forced Land Acquisition for Sports University, Headquarter Sora on Saturday continued to oppose acquisition of 213 acre of land area in Yaithibi Loukon by Manipur Government for setting up the intended Manipur Sports University.
The State Government is not arranging alternative land to rehabilitate populace of five villages in 44-Yaithibi Loukon and is not sparing paddy field either, association president Md Alimuddin told reporters at Manipur Press Club here.
He alleged that the 213 acre of land forcefully acquired by the Government has been registered in the name of some Government officials.
Alimuddin claimed that the villagers have never given land to the State Government for establishing the Sports University and that the land has been acquired through forged documents.
"We'll never accept it.
The acquisition process will have to be carried out as per the court order dated December 8, 2013," he said.
He condemned workers of MLAs P Brojen and D Korungthang for allegedly helping the authorities in the plot to snatch away the land from the villagers by using power.
Secretary of the land owners' association, Md Najimuddin also alleged that the Government has threatened to book all leaders of the association over the stalemate.
Local leaders and Pradhan were not given prior information on the land acquisition process of the State Government, he accused.
Advisor of Protection of Agricultural Land & Natural Resources, Mutum Churamani was also present at the press meet.
He charged that the State Government has coherently obtained the 213 acre of land in Yaithibi Loukon measuring a total area of 642 acre.
He said Yaithibi Loukon is a junction of Kakching, Chandel district and Wangjing Tentha.
Churamani said all local MLAs and bureaucrats living in the area are eating rice produced from the paddy field.
"We need to protect arable land area and hence the Government should look for an alternative spot to set up the proposed Sports University," he said.
