Two arms smugglers held

Imphal, August 26 2013:
A combined team of Police Commandos of Imphal East and Bishnupur under the supervision of Addl SP (Ops) of Imphal East M Rajen Singh, MPS, reportedly arrested two arms smugglers from Nambol Maibam Lokpa Chingjin on August 23 at around 10.30 pm.
According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East Kamei Angam Romanus, IPS, today, the arrested arms smugglers were identified as Md Abdul Kadir (55) s/o late Md Abdul Gafar of Lilong Chingkham Makha Leikai and his son Md Iqbal Hussain (21) .
One Yamaha bike (FZS) bearing registration no.MN-01C-4382, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, one mobile phone with Airtel SIM card having no.8732863271 and one I-card were recovered from the possession of Md Abdul Kadir while one mobile phone Nokia X-2 with Airtel SIM card having no.8974322888 from the possession of Md Iqbal Hussain.
On verification, the father-son duo admitted that they are arms smugglers and they transport arms and ammunition from one place to another, the SP said.
The SP further informed that on the same day at around 8.40 pm, a team of Imphal East Police Commandos under the supervision of M Rajen arrested two RPF cadres identified as Tensubam Inaobi Meitei alias Laiba (36) s/o T Ibohalbi of Kangu Chingin Mayai Leikai and Khangembam Jiban Singh alias Purnima alias Nanao (30) s/o Kh Mikhu Singh of Chalou Mamang Leikai from Khongnangkhong at the northern side of the road between Sanjenbam and Thumbi Chingkhong.
One mobile phone (Samsung GT-105-E) along with Airtel SIM card having no.8974759910 was recovered from the possession of Tensubam Inaobu while one mobile phone (Nokia-101) with two SIM cards of Airtel and Aircel from the possession of Khangenbam Jiban.
During verification, Tensubam Inobi disclosed that he joined RPF in July 2013 through Khangenbam Jiban who also joined the outfit around the same time through one Melei alias Yaima.
The arrested duo also disclosed that they were involved in extortion of money from the general public, government officials, private schools, etc, the SP added.
