Continuing the wide-spread protest against the draconian and repressive laws imposed in India and especially the imposition of AFSPA in Manipur, the Manipur Students' Association, Kurukshetra (MSAK) in association with Jagaro Chhatra Morcha organized a protest rally demanding the immediate removal of the Armed Forces Special Power Act from Manipur on August 24 at Kurukshetra University Campus.
A delayed report issued by Salam Rojesh, president MSAD, said that the rally started from 12 noon and continued till 2 pm.
A team of 35 delegates from the Manipur Students Association Delhi also participated in the rally.
A meeting was held in front of the VC office of the University where it was resolved to continue the democratic movement till the Act is withdrawn completely from Manipur.
The MSAK and the other two organizations submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the Vice Chancellor demanding the immediate removal of the Act, and punishment of the culprits responsible for the murder of Manorama.
In other parts of Haryana, a silent rally and sit-in protest was organized by the Manipuri Students Association Yamuna Nagar (MSAY) and Jagruk Chhatra Morcha (JCM) YNR, on August 22 and 23.About 100 students took part in the rally and sit-in protest.
The rally was started from Nehru Park, Model town, passing through the main market (Pyara Chowk, Fountain Chowk, railway station, Industrial area, Bus stand etc) and ended at ITI YNR.
The next day a sit-in protest was held in front of the DC office YNR and a memorandum was submitted to the SDM, YNR who was in charge of the DC.
In response to it, the SDM assure us that the memorandum would be sent to the Central Govt.
