Joykishan lauds Govt's move, public curfew called off

Even as Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykishan has appreciated the State Government decision to shift the temporary market shed from Thangal bazar to a suitable place, Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) has called off its proposed 24-hour public curfew to be effective from today midnight.
Speaking to reporters at his residence, Joykishan said that he and people of Thangmeiband would extend all possible support to the Government for the early construction of the market shed at a suitable place.
The MLA said that it was a victory of the people of the State over the Government which tried to go against their will.
He said that TAKDO volunteers, Thangmeiband locals and people of the State protested the Government's earlier move as Thangal bazar is a highly congested area.
The MLA expressed hope that the Government would construct the market shed on a war footing considering the inconvenience of the displaced women vendors and the public.
Joykishan also thanked all the organizations and individuals who extended moral and physical support to his cause.
On the other hand, the MLA urged Thangmeiband United Club (TUC), an umbrella body of 30 different clubs of Thangmeiband AC to call off its proposed 24-hour public curfew as the Government has decided to drop its earlier plan.
Joykishan said that he and TAKDO would extend support to TUC in every endeavour in the interest of Thangmeiband locals.
Regarding the violent confrontation that broke out between womenfolk of Thangmeiband and women vendors of Ima Keithel, Joykishan said that the unwanted incident happened due to misunderstanding and miscommunication.
Saying that women vendors have been playing important roles in all the major issues of the State from time to time, Joykishan said that people must never forget the contribution of women vendors.
The MLA said that he would put in all possible efforts to solve their problems.
Joykishan urged the people of the State not to hesitate in raising collective voice against Government's wrong policies and actions.
The MLA said he would appreciate the Government if they take up any good work though he is an Opposition MLA.
Meanwhile, TUC spokesperson Leishangthem Pratap has announced the decision to call off their proposed 24-hour public curfew to be effective from today midnight.
He said that TUC would extend full support to women vendors in their future endeavours.
