Dr S Sekharjit clarifies position

Dr S Sekharjit on Sunday clarified that he did not plead with the RIMS Deputy Director regarding resumption of duties of the director.
In a clarification, Dr Sekharjit further said the judgment of the High Court of Manipur and the order pronounced and communicated on July 31 last had been misquoted and misrepresented in a news item.
The court order directed the respondent number two, president of the Board of Governors of RIMS, who is the Union Minister, to pass necessary orders in terms of the Rules and Regulations of RIMS within three weeks from the date of communication of this order or allow the petition to discharge the duty of director in terms of his appointment orders on expiry of three weeks from the date of communication of this order if no order is passed in terms of the rules and Regulations.
In a letter dated August 22, 2015, Dr S Professor informed the RIMS Deputy Director that he had resumed duty of director from August 22, 2015 in pursuance and in compliance of the Manipur High Court orders dated July 31, 2015, the statement said.
Dr Sekharjit also requested the Deputy Director in the letter to make necessary arrangements for him to discharge official duty, ensure smooth transition and communicate the above compliance of the aforesaid court's orders to the Ministry immediately.The High Court in its order dated July 31, 2015 states that on consideration of the above nature of allegations against the petitioner (Dr Sekharjit) as well as on consideration of the fact that there is no provision either under the Rules or Regulations or in bye-laws to relieve a director from the post.
It says writ petition can be disposed of directing the respondent number-2 to pass necessary order in terms of the Rules and Regulations of RIMS within three weeks from the date of communication of this order or allow the petitioner to discharge the duty of director in terms of his appointment order on expiry of three weeks from the date of communication of this order if no order is passed in terms of the Rules and Regulations.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, RIMS Director Prof S Rita Devi has informed Dr S Sekharjit in a letter that the period of three weeks as stipulated by the High Court in its judgment and order dated July 31, 2015 is yet to be completed by counting the period from the date of communication of the order to the Ministry.
Accordingly, Dr S Sekharjit has been requested not to resume as director of RIMS, Imphal till the expiry of the period or necessary order is issued by the concerned Ministry allowing him to resume discharging the duties of director in compliance with orders of the Manipur High Court.
