Imphal, February 21 2009:
The proscribed KYKL has asserted that there is no other way than peaceful co-existence among all communities and joint struggle against the common enemy, should the people of Manipur survive.
A statement issued by the outfit's secretary of publicity and research Lanngamba Mangang noted that instances of some people with mean thoughts and no vision, who could not see reality of the divisive policy of India tormenting the society has gone too long and too much.
KYKL also said all people ought to condemn the brutal murder of SDO Kishan, Mondal Y Token and Driver A Rajen who were found slain at Lukhrabi Thong near Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district on February 17 after they were abducted from Ukhrul DC office complex on February 13 .
The murder was totally senseless and too brutish.
It was an act of those who could not even imagine the possible reactions, the outfit noted.
Even if the murder was related to NREGS work, only the SDO should have been targeted.
There is no reason to butcher the driver and the mondal too.
Disposing the corpses at a place inhabited by another community might have been perpetrated deliberately with an ulterior motive to spark communal riot between two communities under a high political conspiracy, it observed.
Describing Dr Kishan as a gem of the land, the outfit said that it took Dr Kishan as an intellectual beacon after analysing the articles and editorials he wrote in the Eastern Quarterly and the Alternative Frames (Alternative Perspectives) .
The outfit was saddened when he became an MCS officer in the thought that the society has lost its intellectual beacon, it conveyed while sharing the pain and grief being endured by the bereaved families and the public.
Stating that all human beings have their tolerance limits, the outfit cautioned that once the provocation crossed the tolerance limit of the people, Manipur may see an ugly situation no less in degree than those seen in Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Bosnia etc.
The trend of one section of people tolerating all injustices patiently while another section goes on indulging in all kinds of unacceptable activities cannot continue forever.
Observing that having sensibility is no weakness, the outfit asserted that it is a human nature to hit back without giving any thought to the casualty that would result thereof when pushed beyond the tolerance limit.
All human beings have animal instincts though dormant until provoked beyond his/her sensibility, it said while asserting that in the event of any untoward fallout, the responsibility should lie with those senseless section and the alien rule inciting them.
It further advised that it would be better for all the people of Manipur to give up the politics of taking peoples of other regions of India with more weight while ignoring the neighbours.
In the event of any communal riot, it the people of Manipur who would suffer.
It is the future of the indigenous people that would be put under threat while the Government of India would be the gratified observer, it cautioned.
Observing that the people of Manipur used to raise up strong and vociferous movements when anything serious happens only to let it die after a few days, the outfit asserted that it's time people give up such attitude.
It's time people of Manipur look beyond the question of safeguarding integrity of Manipur.
The integrity presently kept in tact by the alien rule, who is not the real heir of the land, is not the true integrity of Manipur, the outfit asserted while exhorting civil society organisations of Manipur to redirect their attention towards making people of Manipur the real owner of the State.
Noting that the people of Manipur are on the brink of extinction, the outfit asserted that under such situation, the politics of the people should focus on the lurking challenge.
Even as individuals/groups have differences, there are times when it calls for a united stand in the interest of the land and the society.
Instead of sustaining the conflicts/differences between individuals/groups, it is lot better to unite together, particularly in the politics of saving " our people and their identity".
At such a juncture, all insurgent groups should join hands at least in those areas where they have similar perspectives even they cannot unite completely, it said.
