Apparently learning about the Apunba Lup's new strategy, there was heavy deployment of security personnel around the residences of MLAs and Ministers.
Notwithstanding the stringent security arrangement, around 100 women activists, clad in all white, marched towards the Khurai Ahongei Leikai residence of FCS Minister Y Erabot at about 1.45 pm.
The women activists coming from JN Hospital road chanted such slogans, 'Punish killer commandos', 'Take up commensurate action against the police officers who attempted to cover up the fake encounter,' 'Resign, Chief Minister O Ibobi,' and 'Release arrested Apunba Lup functionaries without any condition'.
The marching women were blocked by police near the girls' hostel of JN Hospital.
Soon, a tussle broke out between the women activists and police.
With the arrival of reinforcement, which included women police personnel, police tried to drive back the protestors.
After about 30 minutes of scuffling, police started baton charging the women protestors.
They also fired tear gas shells and mock bombs and finally succeeded in driving back the women activists.
Police apprehended four of the protesters and took them to Porompat police station.
They have been identified as Chanambam Dashu, Loutakpam Nganbi, Sorojini and Tombi.
A number of Apunba Lup functionaries have also been picked up, earlier.
In a similar protest movement, more than 100 Meira Paibis stormed the residence of MLA Brajabidhu at Lamdeng.
They literally gheraoed the residence of the MLA.
But a police team came there and drove away the Meira Paibis.
Yet, the Meira Paibis continued their protest demonstration till evening near Lamdeng public ground, just about 200 metres away from the MLA's residence.
