Based on specific intelligence input, troops of 21 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) launched an operation in the general area of Aishi Top and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition yesterday.
The warlike stores include one M 16 Rifle, two Carbine Machine Guns, two 7.62mm barrels, 73 live rounds of 7.62mm Rifle, six live Lathode shells, ten live rounds of 12.7mm, 17 rounds of 5.56mm, two magazines of M-16 Rifle, two magazines of Carbine, two magazines .303 Rifles and a Chinese hand grenade.
The recovered items were handed over to Lilong Police Station, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
In another incident, troops of the 40 AR of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) established a vehicle check post at Lilong Bazar and apprehended one KCP (MC) cadre on 18 Jul 2014 .
The suspicious a black colour motor cycle (Discovery150 CC) without registration number, was stopped for checking, resulting in the apprehension of one individual and recovery of one 9mm pistol with magazine, four live rounds and Rs 23190.The apprehendee has been identified as Jiten Singh alias Tomba (46), s/o Late Mongljao Singh, resident of Kakwa Lamdaibung Leikai.
The apprehendee alongwith the recovered items were handed over to the Lilong Police Station, added the press release.
