Holding squarely the Centre�s decision to extend the Naga cease-fire to Manipur for today�s violence AMUCO, AMSU, AMKIL,NIPCO,IPSA and UPF today condemned the firing on protesters saying that it was a cowardly act.
The organizations also condemned the imposition of indefinite curfew.
In a joint statement, the organizations said the trouble was invited by the Centre and demanded that the Centre should not only withdraw its decision, but also tender an apology to the people of Manipur.
Lauding the courage of those protesters, who sacrificed their lives today the organizations, said they shared the sorrow and grief of the bereaved families.
Their sacrifices will never be forgotten; the statement said adding that lakhs of people will follow their footsteps.
It said that the spontaneous uprising has shown to Delhi today that the people of Manipur will not hesitate to sacrifice their lives to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Flaying the Centre for its stand against the sentiments and wishes of the people the joint statement said today�s incident s were explosion of the anger simmering in the minds of the people.
They also said extension of the cease-fire area to Manipur despite repeated opposition expressed by the people of Manipur is an invitation of trouble.
To avoid further troubles the Government of India should withdraw its decision only then can the problem be solved.
Stating that the organizations have prepared to intensify the protest further they appealed to all the people in Manipur to launch a united movement democratically to frustrate the designs for triggering communal clash.
Stating that the general strikes were successful the organizations appealed to the people to extend support to the mass movements.
