State teams to rush to Southern states

Expressing serious concern and anguish over the reported incidents of attack on Manipuris in various parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra, an emergency meeting of the State Cabinet today has decided to depute teams of senior officers to the two southern states for aiding and assisting the Manipuri people there.
The meeting of the State Cabinet was convened exclusively to discuss the situation arising out of the incidents and took several decisions for the safety and security of the Manipuris residing in the two states.
Accordingly, senior police officer Clay Khongsai, IPS, would be deputed for camping at Bengaluru; IAS officer Yaiskul Meitei and MCS officer Ranjan Yumnam at Guwahati and IPS Officer E Priyokumar Singh at Pune.
These officers would co-ordindate with the local administration in order to assist the Manipuris in the two southern states as well as at Guwahati.
The Cabinet expressed serious concern and anxiety about the safety and security of Manipuris in Bengaluru, Pune, Mysore etc.
in Karnataka and Maharashtra states.
It also noted the departure of large number of them from Bengaluru by trains and flights.
It is said that the state Governmnet is in constant touch with the Governments of Karnataka and Maharashtra and the Prime minister's office and Union Home Ministry have already been urged to issue appropriate advisory to these states to ensure the safety and security of Manipuris.
The state Governmnet is also keeping a close watch on the developments in Karnataka through its Liaison office at Bengaluru.
