Four with close contact with Thoubal Pradhan test positive

After Jiribam, the State health authorities are now focusing on Thoubal as the district has surfaced as a potential red zone for COVID-19 .
During the door to door rapid antigen testing conducted today, following infection of a Pradhan, four persons have tested positive at Moijing Awang Leikai.
The four had close contact with the Pradhan, said sources.
It may be mentioned that the Pradhan along with four others including one Panchayat Member, one VDF personnel, a quarantine centre volunteer and person who first tested negative were tested positive yesterday.

With Moijing Awang Leikai, Thoubal Khunou and Athokpam Makha Leikai declared as containment zones, the district administration has stepped up surveillance and contact tracing and appealed all to extend cooperation to the authorities concerned.
Tracing the close contacts of the Pradhan at Moijing Awang Leikai, the health authorities conducted rapid antigen tests on 27 persons and found the four positive.
In addition, a number of samples have also been collected today and sent for tests at labs in Imphal, said the sources.
On the other hand, two personnel who returned from leave and three of their family members have tested positive for the virus at CRPF Group Centre Langjing.
Following the detection of the cases, two blocks of the CRPF camp have been sealed and declared containment zones, said sources in the district administration Imphal West.
Two more personnel of the Keithelmanbi Assam Rifles who also returned from leave have tested positive further spiking the number of cases among security personnel.
Meanwhile, 25 inmates of the quarantine centre opened at Manipur University Marjing Hostel have tested positive for COVID-19, said sources.
In Jiribam, a staff of SP (Superintendent of Police) has tested positive for the virus on rapid antigen testing today.
And the COVID-19 patient from the district who was stranded on the way to Imphal due to landslide yesterday has reached Imphal.
He has been admitted at Meitram COVID-19 Care Centre, said sources in the Health Department.
Further, to effect the containment measures in Jiribam, the complete lockdown imposed in the district has been extended by seven days till July 22.An order of to this effect has been issued by the Chairman, State Executive Committee on Disaster Management Authority, Dr J Suresh Babu.
There will be complete curfew in the entire Jiribam district till July 22.Only personnel of essential services permitted by the Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam will be allowed to move about.
Only inter State goods carrying vehicles will be allowed to pass Jiribam gate.
Passengers coming by vehicles at Jiribam gate will not be allowed to pass and will be put in institutional quarantine centre in the district, said the order.
Meanwhile, the State COVID-19 Common Control Room has reported that 64 persons have tested positive for the virus today taking the tally to 1764 .
The 64 cases include 45 males and 19 females.
They hail from Churachandpur (5), Imphal West (33), Kakching (1), Kamjong (1), Tamenglong (3), Thoubal (1), Senapati (11) and Ukhrul (9) .
49 persons were also discharged after recovery today taking the number of recovered cases to 1129 .
The recovery rate now stands at 64 percent.
There are 635 active cases, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
