Mukul's balm for needy

Mukul Wasnik has assured that the welfare programmes for the under privileged section of the society will be expedited.
The Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment said this while winding up his two-day visit to Imphal today.
Mukul Wasnik visited Government-run Deaf and Mute School in Imphal today.
"My ministry is ready to provide all requirements needed in expedition of implementation of all Centre sponsored schemes in the State," the Union Minister said.
Speaking to the reporters on the sideline, he said, "It is the duty of my Ministry reach out to the underprivileged section of the society.
To achieve this there is the need to create more awareness about the various Central schemes related to drug abuse and rehabilitation, welfare for senior citizens and persons with disabilities" .
The Union Minister added that he has held consultation with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to provide beneficiaries of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) to the Deaf and Mute School of the State.
Officials will be sent to the State to find out areas which could be touched by SSA scheme to benefit people with disabilities in the State , he added.
Mukul Wasnik, while expressing the need for a more transparent and efficient manner in the implementation of the Centrally sponsored schemes, said that the implementing agency (Social Welfare Department) should ensure that benefits of these schemes reach the people.
Concluding his two-day visit, Mukul and his team of Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry including Secretary KM Acharya, Joint Secretary and AN Jha and his private secretary Dr Harsh Deep Kamble left Imphal this afternoon for New Delhi.
