Sunk girl found dead

Imphal, November 13 2016:
A 14 year old girl who remained traceless since November 10 after she had sunk and disappeared after rescuing a mother and a three year old girl at Imphal river at Arong Mayai Leikai was found dead today morning.
The corpse has been deposited at JNIMS morgue for post mortem.
Police sources informed that the body of the 14 year old girl identified as Rajeshwari was first seen by some people of Arong Khunjao Makha Leikai under Waikhong police station at around 11 am.
On learning about the discovery, a police team of Waikhong police station rushed to the spot and pulled up the body which was brought to JNIMS morgue in the evening.
It may be mentioned that the victim had jumped into Imphal river to rescue a young mother and her minor daughter who fell into the river while crossing a wooden bridge at Arong Mayai Leikai.
After rescuing both the mother and child, the girl sank and disappeared.
A massive search was carried out by the locals of the area but without success.
Anguished by the tragic incident, local people set ablaze the bridge in the evening that day.
