Shirui Fest: New traffic rules announced

In a bid to ease traffic congestion during the coming Shirui Lily Festival, Ukhrul police has announced new traffic rules for Ukhrul town.
At the same time, the Ukhrul DC has also issued an order making it compulsory for all tourists, visitors, guests to register themselves so as to get Shirock entry pass during the festival.
The order further mentioned that all private activities, such as opening of tents, camping sites, outlets, eateries etc during the festival (excluding stalls at TNL ground and Bakshi ground) must get registered at the registration counter opened at DRDA training hall, Mini Secretariat, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
Briefing media persons at his office chamber, Worngam Ningshen, SP Ukhrul, spoke about the new traffic rules for smooth flow of vehicle from October 16 to 19, in all the three celebration venues (Shirui village, TNL ground and Shirock) .
He said that as per the new regulation, maximum speed limit in and around Ukhrul town and towards Shirui village is 20 km/hr while there will be a one way traffic system from Dungrei Junction till Jessami Junction (near TNL ground), Viewland, in the South-North direction from 4 pm (except for MST passenger bus service heading towards Imphal) .
The whole road of Ukhrul Town will be a no overtaking zone while the road from Shirui to Ukhrul and vice versa will be no overtaking and no stopping zone, he said, adding that entry of heavy vehicles, including trucks, in the town will be permitted only between 12 am to 6 am during the festival.
He advised the visitors/tourists to travel in public transport system or local taxis for their visit and urged them to bear the situation in spite of the inconveniences.
The Western side of the road from TTA hall, Hamleikhong till Viewland will be used for orderly parking of vehicles for public/visitors/tourist, while for Ava Market (Phungreitang) and Wino Bazar, parking will be on the Eastern side of the road.
For the Shirock events at Bakshi Ground, visitors/tourists may park their vehicles at Bumrei Church compound (with parking fee), St George School compound (with parking fee), Sacred Heart School Father's Compound, District Hospital, western side of the main road from TTA hall, Hamleikhong till Ava Market (Gandhi Chowk), Phungreitang, he informed.
For the public attending the events at TNL ground, parking of vehicle can be done at northern end of TNL ground (parking fee applicable) and Eastern side of Wino bazaar road while VVIP/VIP vehicle will be parked at western side of the road opposite to TNL ground and near PWD office/Ava Market/ZEO Office phungreitang.
For the events at Shirui Hill Base Ground, visitors/tourists may park their vehicles either on the western side of the main road beyond Shirui foot hill or they may be dropped off at the foothill and the vehicles can be parked at Shirui Village Ground.
The pick-up and drop points along with the timing for MST passenger bus service from Imphal to Ukhrul and vice versa would be at ISBT, Dewlahland Awontang, Ukhrul and bus pick-up and drop points are at District Hospital-Hungpung, Western circular diversion point (turning) near Saw Mill, Dungrei Junction, Hungpung Mini Secretariat, Hamleikhong, Ava Market, Phungreitang, Shamshok Store, Wino Bazar, near TNL ground) Awontang Parking (terminal and starting point) .
Visitors/tourists at Phangrei, may park their vehicles on the western side of the road before the Welcome Gate with parking fee, he added.
