Imphal, May 13:
Availing the opportunity of the rare visit by the Union Health Minister, the Vision Foundation, Manipur today submitted a memorandum urging him to open an GI Surgery Faculty at RIMS.
Pointing out that there is no GI Surgery Faculty at RIMS despite the presence of the only qualified M Ch GI Surgeon in the North East region, the memorandum said that there is a communication gap between RIMS and the Centre and urged the Health Minister to open a GI Surgery Faculty at RIMS.
The other points raised in the memorandum include the need to subsidise the hefty charges for CT scanning and MRI while mentioning that the CT scanning machine has been lying dysfunctional for a long time; no special Emergency Depts, no surgical ICU, not enough rooms for the consultants, essential medicines not available and no hospital pharmacy, no research laboratory at RIMS and no medical auditing.
