Imphal, May 11 2015 :
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has exuded confidence that Congress would score a thumping victory in the ensuing ADC election.
Speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony of INC candidate in 19-Dolang DCC Alar Thoitak, Gaikhangam asserted that the election of five Congress candidates in Chandel ADC and two candidates in Sadar Hills ADC is the precursor of a landslide victory which is in store for the Congress party.
Notably 19-Dolang DCC is located under Nungba sub-division in Tamenglong district.
Notwithstanding all the objections and vehement protest against holding ADC election, the incumbent Government has been working single-mindedly to expedite development in hill districts by setting up local bodies through adult franchise, Gaikhangam asserted.
Rather than posing hindrances, one should let fellow citizens exercise their right to vote under free and fair atmosphere.
Every citizen has a responsibility towards establishment of a strong and stable Government.

As in the previous election which was marred by violence, there is no guarantee that there would be no violence this time.
As such, all the citizens need to stand firm and united against subversive forces, added the Deputy CM.
Pointing out that some elements are determined to interfere and create disturbances in the election process, the Deputy Chief Minister maintained that people should not be intimidated by such elements.
He stated that he was gratified on seeing signs of unification among neighbouring villagers which were once at each others' throats.
The incumbent Government led by Chief Minister O Ibobi has been paying extra attention to the hill districts, and accordingly a number of development projects have been initiated in the hill districts.
The Government is also determined to take up many more projects in the hill areas in the coming years, Gaikhangam stated.
Many key Congress leaders were also present at the flag hoisting ceremony organised by the Dolang Circle Congress Committee.
