IPR minister updates on situation

Imphal, May 10 2023:
With tension notably decreasing compared to the past few days, life is crawling back to normalcy in the state, said IPR minister Dr S Ranjan.
Addressing media persons at DIPR auditorium here on Wednesday, Dr Ranjan said that around 100 loaded vehicles stranded in Senapati area reached Imphal safely under adequate security cover.
While appealing to the public not to fall to rumours and misinformation, the minister said that with improvement in the situation, the government has decided to lift curfew for six hours on Wednesday in many districts to allow the public procure essential items.
Stating that peace committees formed to bring peace have been meeting people belonging to different sections and communities, the minister further informed that chief minister N Biren visited the relief camps at Khuman Lampak Sports complex and CRPF Lamphel complex and interacted with the displaced people while assuring of government's help and assistances for their recovery and rebuilding.
Dr Ranjan continued that surveillance of sensitive areas is still going on actively by using helicopters, drones and unmanned aerial vehicles to ensure peace and safety.
The state government is mainly stressing on evacuating stranded persons to safe places at the moment, he said and added that around 5300 more persons have been evacuated taking the total number of evacuated persons to 30,000. The Minister also said that 209 relief camps are being opened currently in the state and those taking shelter in the relief camps have been provided regular medical check-ups and psychological counselling in addition to other necessary services.
Informing that so far 288 arms and 6700 ammunition have been surrendered along with registering 288 FIRs in the regard, the minister further appealed to the public to surrender the snatched arms and ammunition at the earliest.
