Bomb planter at newspaper office held

A 63 year old man who is said to be a member of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) and allegedly involved in placing a hand grenade at the office of Pandam evening daily on December 26 last year has been arrested by Imphal West district police.
Acting on a specific tip off about presence of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) activists at Sagolband Kangabam Leikai area, a team of Imphal West district police led by DSP (Commando) Irom Rojit and DSP (Ops) Thangkhochon Haokip rushed to Sagolband Kangabam Leikai, cordoned off some suspected houses and carried out a search operation at around 7.15 pm yesterday.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional SP S Ibomcha.
In the course of the search operation, one unknown person was found at the house of one Kangabam Chaoba alias Mohen (63) s/o late Kulamani.
Immediately, the man who was found standing at the backyard was detained for verification.
On verification, he turned out to be the owner of the house namely Kangabam Chaoba alias Mohen (63) s/o late Kulamani, informed a source.
Chaoba disclosed that he was an active member of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) and he was working under the command of self styled commander of the same outfit Laishram Mangoljao alias Lamyanba Khuman who was staying in Nepal.
Chaoba further disclosed that his second son K Raju joined the same outfit seven years back.
He also disclosed that he placed a hand grenade inside the office of Pandam evening daily on December 26 last year at the instruction of Lamyanba Khuman.
Chaoba reportedly collected one Chinese hand grenade from AK Khamba (48) s/o late AK Mani of Bamon Kampu Mayai Leikai along with one detonator and three demand letters of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman).
AK Khamba was recently arrested by Imphal East commandos.
The Chinese hand grenade along with detonator and the three demand letters handed over to Chaoba by Lamyanba Khuman through AK Khamba were also recovered from his house, added the source.
