Two missing men of Khumbong yet to be traced

A Joint Action Committee and the locals of Khumbong have resolved to launch an intense agitation if the Government fails to establish the whereabouts of Atom Samarendra and Yumkhaibam Kirankumar who have gone missing since May 6 at the earliest.
Samarendra (47), s/o Krishnamohon and Kirankumar (47), s/o Kalajit both of Khumbong Bazar were last seen going out together in a Renault Kwid on May 6 from their locality.
It is not yet known whether the two individuals are dead or alive till the time of filing this report.
The car is also not yet recovered.
Today, the JAC for Missing Atom Samarendra and Yumkhaibam Kirankumar staged a sit-in protest at Khumbong Bazar along with the people of the locality and took some resolutions.

The resolutions taken include urging the State Government to rescue/find the two individuals and to find a lasting solution for the conflict besieging the State.
It may be mentioned that the State police rushed to Sangaithel yesterday after a hearsay of two bodies lying near Olympian Park was shared by many.
The police, however, didn't find any corpses when they reached the site.
Atom Samarendra used to work as a Sub Editor at The Sangai Express and Imphal correspondent of The Telegraph (Sports) before joining Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) at Lamphelpat as a Junior Assistant.
He is also the general secretary of Imphal West Students' Club, Khumbong.
He has two sons.
Y Kirankumar, on the other hand, is a driver and he has 2 daughters and one son.
Adhoc convenor of the JAC, Irengbam Gandhijit Singh appealed to the State Government and the people to assist in locating the whereabouts of the two missing individuals.
He also asked the State Government to take responsibility if the two persons are found dead.
Wife of Samarendra, Kabita said that her husband left home on May 6 at around 11 am while one of her relatives told her that Samarendra was seen at Olympian Park at around 4.25 pm of the same day.
Appealing to the Government as well as the people to extend help in rescuing her husband, she asked all concerned to release her husband safe and sound if he has been taken hostage.
Wife of Kirankumar, Basanti said that her husband is a daily wager and appealed to the Government to locate the whereabouts of her husband.
She also requested all concerned to release her husband if he has been taken captive.
