An active member of NSCN (IM) rounded up from Sangaiprou area on August 5 reportedly disclosed involvement of the rebel group's cadre in the August 1 bomb blast in Sangakpham Bazar area.
The arrested person, according to a statement issued today by SSP (IW) L Kailun, revealed that one of the five victims in the blast was the armed outfit's Imphal Town Commander S/S Sgt Anthony of Sadu Khoiroi.
Informing that an active member of NSCN (IM) namely Sekho Dingthoi Chiru (52) s/o (L) SD Woonpi Chiru of Charoi Khullen village under Churachandpur district was arrested by a team of Imphal West district police commandos, the SSP said sekho was assigned to help NSCN (IM) cadres in extortion of money from the general public with his brother in-law and an active cadre of the outfit namely Dijonglung alias Ajin Kamei of Sadu Khoiroi.
Informing that both worked under the instruction of Anthony, who expired in the Sangakpham blast, the statement listed one mobile handset and an extortion note of NSCN (IM) as the items seized from Sekho's possession.
The statement further informed of the district police commandos pulling up four activists of the KCP (Tamnganba group) from Meino Leirak near Baba Fish Centre on August 5 afternoon, with another activist of the same group picked up from his residence during follow up action.
The arrested persons have been identified as Md Abdul Hassin alias Manikhan alias Wareppa alias Mani (35) s/o (L) Md Amu of Paobitek Maning Leikai; Rajkumar Naocha alias Somokanta Singh (20) s/o (L) RK Sanatomba Singh of Wangoo Sabal Mamang Nungei Leikai presently a resident of Kongba Laishram Leikai; (sisters) Miss Takhellei Begum (29) and Miss Jamina Begum (18) d/o Najeruddin of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Maning Leikai; and Soibam Beramani alias Kokan (42) s/o (L) S Manihar of Yurembam Mayai Leikai.
Beramani, from whom one mobile handset has been seized, is said to have been assigned in recruitment and harbouring of KCP (Tamnganba group) activists.
The SSP also said one .32 pistol with magazine having three live rounds and two mobile handsets have been seized from the possession of the four who were apprehended from Sagolband Meino Leirak area.
