TAKDO launches pension scheme

With a bid to assist the elderlies of Thangmeiband Kendra in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown induced by the disease, Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) has launched a pension scheme and started extending help from today onwards.
The scheme which came as a relief for those above 70 years of age, was started with a simple programme at the community hall of Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba Mapal today.
The event also saw eligible seniors belonging to Polling Stations 9/16 and 9/17 of the Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency provided with pension worth Rs 200 .
Speaking at the launch event of the pension scheme and first phase of pension distribution, chief patron of Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation who is also the MLA of the Assembly segment, Kh Joykisan stated that elderlies of only two Polling Stations were called upon and assisted with the pension keeping the prohibitory orders on congregation in the mind.
The MLA continued that the organisation volunteers, to further the cause, will visit every polling station in a phased manner and assist the aged persons at their respective residences with honour.
He also appealed to eligible persons who missed registration to avail the scheme, to contact and submit their names either to their concerned booth committee member or any volunteer of the TAKDO.
Considering more for vulnerable families, Joykisan also appealed to the volunteers of the organisation to take stock of the family condition while visiting houses of the beneficiaries and promised that the pension amount may be raised if it is deemed necessary.
While maintaining that all ailing persons of the Assembly segment who underwent or are undergoing medical treatment outside the State during the COVID-19 crisis have been provided assistance of Rs 10,000 each, the MLA promised to extend help to those who are in serious health condition and require surgery.
He also appealed to all concerned to contact Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation to avail the assistance.
He and the volunteers of the TAKDO have been actively involved in relief activities since the imposition of the lockdown, he said and added that they had distributed dal to all households under the Assembly segment before the arrival of dal issued by the Government.
He further maintained that he will provide rice to daily wage earners in case they missed their share of PDS rice.
