Imphal, April 05 2015 :
Taking strong exception against the inaction of the State Govern-ment with regard to the 'missing' case of Lakshmi Phaomei of Gaipuinam village, Imphal, the JAC Against the Kidnapping of Lakshmi Phaomei has called a 48 hour general strike with effect from April 7 midnight.
Even as the JAC approached the State Govern- ment repeatedly to penalize Lamphel Police OC O Dorendro who physically assaulted the father of Lakshmi Phaomei apart from using abusive language and derogatory terms, the State Govern- ment has been maintaining a stoic silence.
In case the Government does not fulfil the JAC's demands even after the general strike, the JAC would be compelled to impose an indefinite blockade on NH 37 .
According to a statement issued by the JAC's convenor Kakomlunglu Kamei, Lakshmi Phaomei was kidnapped by one Md Afsar s/o Najimudin of Top Kshetri Mayai Leikai.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the ZSUM has conveyed strong displeasure over the way the State Government has been dealing with the missing case of Lakshmi Phaomei.
A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister on March 24 seeking befitting action against the Lamphel P/S OC but the State Government is yet to take up any action against the errant officer.
The ZSUM urged the Government to punish the officer as has been demanded by the JAC.
ZSUM would support any course of action taken up by the JAC.
