BJP throws door open to 12 NPF Chandel unit members

With twelve eminent personalities from Naga People's Front (NPF) Chandel unit joining the BJP, Chief Minister N Biren has claimed that the saffron party would win at least 15 seats in the hill districts and over 30 in the valley in the 2022 Assembly election.
The Chief Minister felicitated the new members of BJP during a simple function held this evening at the CM Bungalow in the presence of the party Manipur and Nagaland secretary organisation Abhay Kumar Giri and vice president N Nimbus.Caretaker Chairman of ADC Chandel also took part in the programme.
At the function, N Biren said that more and more people from the hill districts are joining the saffron party by putting faith in its development work.
"Despite the assumption of many that BJP is not so popular in hill districts, many are joining the party," he said.

The 12 persons who have switched allegiance to the BJP include ex MLA candidate Ts Warngam; NPF Farmer Wing Chandel ex vice president Th Angthung; ex working president of 41 Chandel AC Asem Kom and ex vice president 41 Chandel AC Sn Semler.
The Chief Minister, however, declined to reply on being asked if there are possibilities of some NPF MLAs joining the BJP.
"It's not appropriate to respond to the question for the time being as NPF is a coalition party of the State Government," he reasoned.
He further stated that the BJP and NPF will go together in the next term too.
N Biren appealed to all not to hold grudges when people join the party of their liking.
Claiming that there are many politicians from different parties who are set to join the BJP while many others have requested for membership, the Chief Minister informed that the BJP is preparing to admit new members by November with due approval from the Central leaders.
Reiterating that the BJP is targeting to win at least 15 seats in the hill districts and 30 in the valley in the election, N Biren exuded confidence of BJP winning the election impressively.
On the issuance of party ticket, the Chief Minister informed that the onus of giving BJP ticket lies with the Parliamentary Board which is under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party National president JP Nadda.
He also asked all the intending candidates to refrain from creating ruckus on the issue of the party ticket and added that BJP is looking for winnable candidates who stay in touch with the people.
N Biren also urged all to have faith in the 'Nation first party second' theory of the party.
"The people and the BJP will surely reward those who work for the party," he said.
On being asked if all the sitting MLAs of the BJP will be given ticket, the Chief Minister didn't give any assurance.
There would be no issue within the party on the matter of ticket, he concluded.
