Imphal, October 02 2011:
Four guns reportedly used by a gang of P Brojen in interrupting an election related Congress meeting and vandalising Block Congress office at Wangjing Bazar last morning have been seized by Thoubal commandos, claimed Wangjing-Tentha AC MLA M Hemanta.
Speaking to media persons this afternoon, Hemanta, quoting police reports, said that the guns were owned by family members of P Brojen.
Incidentally Brojen has been preparing to contest the Assembly elections in Wangjing-Tentha AC.
One of the seized guns, a .32 pistol belongs to Khelen, younger brother of Brojen.
The three double barrel guns belong to Tiken, another to Brojen and his brothers-in-law Noren and L Binodkumar.
"Some Congress workers were returning home yesterday after submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister in connection with the vandalism committed at block Congress office when they saw some persons checking commuters on the road.
At first, they looked like commandos, but later it was established that they were not commandos and Thoubal Police were informed promptly" .
"A Thoubal Police team arrived at the scene and nabbed the miscreants along with four guns, three four-wheelers and eight hockey sticks", Hemanta said.
On being enquired about the details of the arrested persons at Thoubal Police this morning, the arrested persons were found released last night .
