Imphal, April 02:
Even as the hard-liners of the Apunba Lup lambasted the police crackdown against its members the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal has remanded three Lup activists arrested on charges of banning Little Flower School to police custody.
The three - Ch Premita d/o Ch Ibohal of Yaiskul Police Lane, Salam Jotin s/o S Ingocha of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi and RK Sanayaima s/o RK Sanatomba of Kha-Imphal Keisham Leikai - were arrested by police on March 31 night.
Lamphel police subsequently registered an FIR against the trio u/s 447,506/ 34 and 7 Cril Law Amendment Act, according to case dossiers.
The three were produced before the CJM, Imphal and the latter having perused the police allegation remanded them to police custody till 1 pm of April 5 and during the detention period the Court ordered for medical examination of the detainees within 48 hours.
Case dossiers submitted by the police mentioned of some Apunba Lup members insisting upon the LFS headmistress to notify the students join the March 23 sit-in-protest organised by the Apunba Lup to denounce arrival of AFSPA review team to Manipur.
However, the headmistress declined the Lup's insistence on grounds that consent of the Parents' Association is a necessity to herd out the students beyond the school premises as well as in view of conduct of first unit test of class X that very day, maintained the police report.
As the Lup persuasion failed to yield positive response two of the Lup members are reported to have locked the school's main gate and issuing threats to the headmistress with dire consequences.
The headmistress was also asked to be present at the Lup office located at DM College campus by 10.30 am which the school authorities obliged by sending two senior teacher representatives the next morning.
However, the Lup turned back the representatives while branding the headmistress as anti-national and non-cooperative with the ultimate fall-out being imposing ban on LFS functioning, mentioned the report while added that the Apunba Lup also threatened the school authorities of dire consequences if the school reopens without tendering an apology.
